I have sluiced somewhere in the area on two of my few fossicking trips and found fines. I think it was from old lake sediment quartz conglomerate which is widespread around here, like at Danseys Pass/Livingston. Some of this stuff at least was known to be "fine" gold. I can't say whether there is bigger stuff or maybe other sources.

Hi I know this is a bit old but to post useful info for others that I am never going to use completely in my lifetime. Now I lived danseys pass with an old timer for a couple of years and found that the reserve over the bridge is fruitful but you have to walk for a bit.Now at the end of the reserve you will see a small creek, cross that and you are into an old claim that turned nasty between two families and so never really got oof the ground and of course the fence that was not repaired after the gear was taken in!.but anyway you keep going across there old dozer track out of creek you should see it the the next creek over walk up that I used to be about 45mins nice easy walk up about 150m below where the creek splits.I was getting on avg 20-28gms a week with shovel and box in that spot.Further the old timer found a half oz nugget further up the big kyeburn from the reserve and that was about half a km up there a track that we used to take the old datsun sunny down the river

Cool cheers for sharing. Is that just public land you can respectfully have a go on? Sounds like its hard to find a little spot without stepping on someones toes
There's another to find and I'm gunna find it!
