Spent the morning up on a big showground in North Canterbury, got myself 12 silvers of which a few are early sterling examples, 7 bucks in spends plus a load of grot that will end up in the scrap copper bucket. The little locket with a piece of chain looks quite early and is silver too, but the big medallion type thing is just cast base metal with a silver wash. Shame cos its a heavy thing. All in all, had a good morning.

That's a really good day on the Silver.
Suppose there is still more there to find yet.

This one is clearly a cuff link or whats left of one. No clasp on back remaining just a stump where it once was. Stone is flat, not curved and metal is just base metal with gold leaf unfortunately so nothing to get excited about.

Cheers Steve, it is indeed a florin. It came out of a hole with the NZ shilling and two sixpences. I love those little spills.
Yesterday I got a 1911 Aussie florin at Hagley. Funny that I was moaning recently about not having got a florin in ages.
