Looks really good - now all you have to do is to mass produce them for the multitude.

Make another one out of scrap - describe it honestly and fairly and place it on Trademe or place it in the sales column here and see what happens - if it sells quickly then get more material and begin small, see how it goes and maybe a hobby income is generated.

I think Trademe is best as I placed my Aluminium pontoons on here and not one reply so I guess that in the end they might be crushed for the scrap in them and some of the aluminium be recycled for the next project.

what would you think a home made pick mite be worth. i wouldnt think much as most people hear "home made" or "diy" and the idiot in them thinks it will be crap and would much prefer a shiny chinese built thing because it's "brand new"

An item is worth what it fetches and if one doesnt try their luck then they will never know - half of the attraction is in its appearance and how well made it is and half is in the sales pitch!. If you merely put the words 'Home made pick' then I guess you have as much chance of selling it as you have of pushing butter up a hedgehogs arse with a red hot poker...but if you describe it well and point out all its features then you just never know especially when you point out just how much stronger it is than your cheap, expensive commercial ones and when you are dealing with down to Earth people, and most guys on here are, then you might do well.

I made three home made trowels and although a bit rough and ready I have thought of making a swag of them and putting them on here...because their commercial equivalent is around seventy dollars and I can make them for five then of course anything above that is profit.!

i for one may be keen on a pick.

i have been meaning to get one like this for ages.

a prospecting mate has one to use whilst detecting and i couldn't think of a better pick.

so well weighted. and also good for digging into steep slopes and pulling yourself up steep banks.

i think i would be scared of this new one and falling on its sharp point.

how well weight balanced is this one? the bought ones are so well done they are remarkably light considering how tough they are.

i would be keen on one if you need a tester. i would sure put it through some paces in the rock of central otago.

the trouble is these are not easy to post.
