hey all going out for my 1st MD trip this weekend.were does everyone one think the best bet would be. westcoast of down south.im in chch so the coast is closer but dont mind the travel

drop me a note ill put you onto some interesting places eg cementown (spelling) its behind blacks point its now a ghost town but looks interesting and not been a detector its no good to me
thats just one example i went to last week

yesterday went up the track from lankey creek what an interesting place 263 steps up to the bolitho brothers mine and battery then you go onto the old tram track and through tunnels etc the old timers sure knew how to work
there is a creek just east of lankeys that i openned up a trench for ground sluicing so letting the water do the work will check it out on sat when back up there
tus took me over the tops (not the track) from lankeys and into the waitahu once again some interesting places water races round some impressive steep ridges along with a dam up on the tops took me just over 12 hours even saw some goats alittle deer sign
all this is behind blacks point east of reefton
miners took out over 200000 oz of gold and it was the 2nd deepest mine in nz

so much for todays useless imformation

got skunked on the coast. 1st time gold hunting with my md. found heaps of old workings tho. water races ect was really really interesting actully exploring some old sites that i stumbled across.hope to head down south this weekend, i hate loseing so ill make it up this weekend.....hopefully . i got one target tho that i was pretty dam sure about. end of old workings cliff face that i had to absail down to was looking very promising........and bang one 5th of a rusty as nail...... how it got there anyubodys guess
