Thanks for the info, interesting read on the formation of gold, still could be plenty of smaller undiscovered veins around, its just finding them, so much terrain!

Thats a great read - As irony would have it I have been multitasking lying in the bath having my evening soak while using one of the kids toothbrushes to clean gold/quartz specimens from the reef my son found - the gold within the reef specimens is up to approximately a gramme maximum and very filigree like with large cavities in the quartz containing angular quartz though not really crystals - I noted a sentence in your reference to small leaders and these specimens reminds me of that. The gold from this reef seems to be in the cavities as much as anything and quite unlike other specimens I have so that the best likelihood of finding gold in this reef is where the reef has cavities.

This little piece from the Coromandel is not as showy as the photo in the article, but it is home grown.
