Hey Guys though be good to start a thread where peeps can suggest ways to stay invisible/make least impact on turf.

I use sharp knife so clean plug of grass, and make sure i place all soil back into hole.

Go early or late so less ppl see me.

Headphone to limit noise.

Any other suggestions ppl??

Ask permission?
And now....On sandy beaches and muddy soil, rings and coins await my coil!

The sharp knife is better in turf than the lesche or spade. I am in the process of getting one made, fully serrated to the point on both edges, 3/16 carbon steel from an old sawmill blade.

Another thing I find useful is a thin metal rod to use as a probe to tap the target to hear if its worth digging for. If its shallow its easy to pop rather that dig.

For invisiblity I have a cloak for that :)

Invisible probably wrong word, Im talking about less impact to parks etc. So that we all can keep access without any hassles

Well, in CHCH if you take a hi-vis vest and a few road cones, you can dig anywhere you want!

Small bucket or tarp to put your dirt into/onto before it goes back into the hole.

Don't dig cone shape plugs, they get kicked out and sucked up by mowers. Don't cut a plug out completely leave a tuft so the grass has a better chance of survival. Do fill in your holes, no matter where you are.

Hi. I dont think I have a problem as my wife says she never sees me doing anything!

I dig reasonably big pentagon shaped plugs. Having been back to most places I have about 95% unnoticeable after a couple of weeks.

This one was a bit big though. And all for a bit of foil!
