Some pics of the gold we got yesterday.
The first pic was the best pan volume wise.
The second pic shows the largest flake.
The last pic shows the days tally.

Hi there Diggerjoe, That is a bloody good effort mate. Well done. Was that just panning or were you running a sluice box?
A coulpe of years back when I was returning back up to the Coromandel from a detecting trip in Central. I stopped by the Callery. It was more just a reconoscience just to check it out for maybe a future prospect. I took my pan & crevicing tools in with me & just operated on one crevice. I didnt get much time as dark was approaching & the crevice was a deep one. Didnt get to the bottom of it but had my crevice scrapers up to there hilt in it. Was getting clay out of it & managed two full pans of material from it with this result.

Good luck out there

Hi JW

Yes it was only panning as the stretch of the creek I was at was very slow flowing and quite deep.

I was just scooping the top layer of gravel down to about 3 inches on bank around the bushes as

these seemed to trap the fine gold very well and panning it down.

Well done also with the gold you got at the Callery, much better than myself. It would have been interesting

to get across to where there were some rocky areas that may have been good for crevicing but the bridge

was out and with the recent rain the Callery and Waiho were raging torrents!

Great going - a nice effort and a good reward - last time I was over that way I got zilch - something to do with the weather! Great country over there though. Next time I daresay you will do better still but the amount you have is better than I got during my entire last trip over to the coast which was a total washout...in more ways than one!
