That is probably the most enjoyable video I have ever seen of this nature because the guy showed genuine surprise and excitement at finding the nugget and it was such a pleasure to share his excitment - almost as though you are there - thanks for sharing it John...well worth watching.

Thank you very much JW-a very interesting video.

I understand why he passed the gravel over the top of his detector (for convenience) but has anyone noticed that the Goldbug (not the gold bug 2) appears to be slightly more sensitive on the top side of the coil rather than underneath- at least mine is?

Hi there 5AMP, A coil should be exactly the same top side or underside as the electromagnetic field is radiated up & down exactly the same. There may be a slight difference in the recieve circuit on the top side if there is an influence from ground inbalance on the underside. I generaly lay my detector on its side & wave a hand full of material on the underside or the outside edge of the coil that is upper most. I just had a thought....are you refering to the top of the coil if the detector is upright & the coil flattend out & lying flat on the ground, or are you meaning the top nose edge of the coil? Elliptical coils are more sensitive at their heal & toe due to the tighter coming together of the coil windings at those points..

Here is another bit of footage for the Gold Bug 2 with set up settings:

Happy hunting
