It's addictive that's for sure. Even my wife enjoys it and she is actually really good, wont let me buy her a detector just yet though and I think we both know it wouldn't really be for her *8^)
Had an early start at the beach today and found pretty much zilch. Went to my "I'm bored park" and only pulled out $1 and some pennies . It was a family outing so it was great in that respect!

I dont know what you guys do but ive been asking b4 MDecting. I asked the council and they said sweet as, just dont leave piles of dirt. I have also phoned a local guy who manages the local race course and have now got access there. So as long as i spread out my searches i should be able to keep access.

What do you guys do?, early morn runs? midnight walks? ...

I also like doing early morning hunts. At 5/6am there is almost nobody about to bother ya.
And if your doing bark playground areas, theres noone playing on them at that time either! :)

Check out my BLOG : Its where i post my finds :D

I'm running out of places to go with my 5x8" coil takes a lot of swinging so I only hit the hot spots like swings and other play equipment, many of the playgrounds around here have the shredded rubber which considerably drops the finds.
Think I need to get a bigger coil asap or maybe another detector with a bigger coil. Not much difference in size of the coil between the Ace 250 6.5x9" and the ATGOLD.

Night time is cool but anytime is a good time. Discretion is the word and not everywhere is suitable thru the day time. Early morning is safer. Im always out in the middle of the day, depends really.

No worries.
This is most likely going to be your next purchase

I also brought the 4 bay charger from this guy because it is a fast charger designed to work with the batteries I brought and it comes with a car adapter meaning that I could recharge the batteries travelling from one place to another.

And then I decided I wanted some extra batteries that if i got stuck somewhere for a while would give me a bit more power. I went for these because while they are 8.4v they provide 400mha of current so last a bit longer than less rater rechargeables, Oh and they cheap however shipping took 3weeks.

I honestly cant tell and significant performance over various 9v batteries ive used however the rechargeables dont last as long due to reduced current ratings. Despite this I am very happy with my choices and I have an armada of seemingly unlimited power supply.
