Crowd funding is an excellent idea. Not sure if it would reach target but no harm in trying.

If there was a group of interested miners wanting to go into a project, i would happily volunteer my time and skills getting all necessary consents and accesses drafted and approved.
this is on the proviso no commercially orientated gear is used shafting the others thou

What did you have in mind with "no commercially orientated gear"? Only hand tools or High Banker and pump or 4" and smaller dredge?

mwyatt..
maybe 5inch dredge maximum.
Just not keen on an 8inch smashing a claim. To be fair, I wont even use it, just offering to get the paperwork sorted for a group of interested blokes

i guess someone would need to pick a place or maybe two. I you had one on the Coast and one in Otago lets say, you could rely on the permitted activity rules and avoid resource consent. then you only have LINZ/DoC issues to work around

if its crowd funded I would be keen to see it handed over to DOC to run as a public area and that would be hand operated equipment only.

aotea. its an existing claim so does the linz/doc issues still have to be looked at. can the claim not just be transferred to new owners.

can the forum wizards make a company with say 5 or more shareholders like "paydirt ltd" and the claim be transfered to the company?

If someone foots the costs I'm sure I could. Not sure what the advantage is though, being tied to paydirt? Anyone can register a company.

the only reason i was thinking that was ..instead of a totalitarian dictatorship where only one person has the title and calls the shots. it is split into 5 equal bits among elected trustworthy admins?... so if there was a change in rules ect you would need a majority vote.

I agree 270win, a company has some merit as a mechanism for managing the claim.
to be fair, forget the extortionate price that bloke is asking for the marewhenua. form a company and cround fund two claims one on the coast and one in otago and then it would cost far less and appeal to your members moreso. people wanting to mine on it and give a donation to cover the costs of admin.

interesting so did it ever sell? I met Dale on the claim once (he caught me inspecting a shovel full lol) well I didn't know I was in his claim lol.... Anyway he was a good bugger we had a yarn I understood exactly where he was coming from....no threats etc (he'd be a fool to push it) but hey he would have been within his right I guess. What was the price I need a change of lifestyle the economy's fucked where I am time to rent the house (or sell) and try a different way to make money :D

I do believe a lot of the good spots have since been sucked clean since he's had it but how can you prove it without cleaning the gravel?
