ummm im not 100% sure but it was highish..roughly about the same as a half sov i think... i will test it tomorrow after work and post it here,,,it was only about 3 inch deep maybe.

Man, that is a great find - well done there - congratulations I would have been doing cartwheels! I better not find one, cos at my age that's not a good idea :-)
Don't think I've ever had a decent look at a gold guinea! Would love to see a good macro photo of both sides.

unfortunatly after more investigation it seems that the one i found isnt gold after all.....it doesnt weigh anywhere near what a real one does and apperamtly they mass produced these brass copies for gaming tokens back in 1820
So it is still an old coin but NOT real gold

So it is with a sad heart that i have to appologise for saying i found gold...

Oh well, look at the bright side, it would have been hard to beat that (at least in NZ). You would have been best to do a George Costanza and retired on a high note. Now you can carry on and be sure your best find is still out there somewhere.

Don't worry Pb every time I hunt I find gold coins, just not the ones we are all after!
