If you want a really cheap detector, you could probably spend less money than this one will cost you. And you won't have to spend very much time digging targets, because you won't be finding many.

Get the right tool for the job.

I have contacted him but hubby said this 1 was a third of the price, gonna have to susssomething out

The really cheap machines dont look very deep, maybe 4" to 5" where you will find some spendable coins and bottle tops etc. If you are interested in silver or gold items or beach hunting you would be better to start with a better quality machine and grow with it. You could check out the Garrett Ace 250 as an excellent learners machine. I am sure you will find them on Trade Me from a dealer in Katikati I think. The Ace may be at a price to suit your hubby better. Roberts machines are good but you say they are more than you are willing to spend right now.

Could always ask hubby if he would put cheap tyres on the 4WD, cheap line on the fishing rod or cheap batteries in the camera. Has to be said with a grin on your face though. My fisher F4 found two silver rings last weekend. One was at least 200mm deep.

Cheers Mike.

Yep .. you will soon out grow a cheap detector.
Especially if you go out with someone who has a decent one. While you are walking up and down either getting no hits, or digging bottle tops, someone with a decent detector will be digging hole after hole of things you never knew were there. Even my mid range detectors have been relegated to specific roles as I now look to get a top tier machine.

You might think you are saving money by buying a cheap one, but the truth is you are wasting that initial money as you will want to buy a better one anyway.

You would be better to try and pickup a quality second hand machine than get a cheap new one if you can't stretch to a new quality one.

One third of the price, one tenth of the machine.

Buy it and you'll regret it. The build quality will be awful, and the detection capabilities will make you wish you'd contacted Rob after all.

My greatest fear is that when I die my wife will sell my collection for what I told her it cost me.

It's 1/3 the price because its a cheap crappy chinese detector that cost about $5 in parts (if that). Don't do it, you'll regret it. And you'll wonder why you're not finding anything but pennies an inch below the surface.

as everyone else has said..if you buy that cheap one beacuse it is 1/3 the price of the F2 you will deff regret it.......i have a friend up here that bought a cheap one like that for 100.00 and we went out detecting together...his machine wouldnt go down any deeper that 2 inches..and a week later he bought an F2....

if you buy that machine you are waisting 150 bucks......of course it is your money to waiste but if your husband wants to get you something that you really want for your Bday then he will take it from the guys that know what they are talking about....
we do this on a daily basis and many of the guys have more than one machine...or have played with more than one....and we have seen many cheap ones that ppl bought because they were 1/3 the price of the cheapest name brands such as fisher or garrett...and those ppl regreted it..

so i guess it boils down to, do you want a machine that will find old stuff or do you just want a toy that will find the coins ontop or within 2 inches or the top..

Cheers and good luck
