I was up there last Xmas. Downstream from the road is an active mine. Upstream from the road is the Woods Creek track through the old mining area, and a very good walk it is too. You could have a look at the next two creeks past Woods Creek. I have found a few specks there and, looking at the permit map, they appear to be unclaimed.
